Guns? Schools? Problem?

March 8, 2018

The second month into the new year, and there has been eighteen school shootings. It's sad to accept the reality of a world in which school shootings and mass shootings are a common occurrence.

The most recent massacre happened on February 14, 2018, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen were left dead and many others injured. While the perpetrator has been arrested, the fear is still felt.

The reality of attending high school in 2018 is sad and scary. Everyday we show up at school, there is an overarching fear of disaster following all of these mass shootings. Everyday weleave our houses in 2018, fear is felt.

Has our country turned into one full of fear due to these events? What needs to be done to stop another massacre from occurring? Should we let this fear stop us from living our lives, getting an education?

The truth is that there is currently a crisis in America. In order to change our own reality, we need to come together. If we’re against each other nothing is going to happen. Whether that means stricter gun laws or more security at high schools, we must move forward side by side.

Stay tuned for our next podcast which discusses the gun epidemic sweeping the nation.
