Growing up

Story By: Angela Garcia, Staff Writer

As the class of 2025 enters their senior year there's a lot that goes through their heads. Many students are still trying to figure out what to do with their lives, let alone what their next step is. So caught up in growing up when do they have the time to see the moments right in front of them?

Growing up is bittersweet. When we were little we wished to be just like the older people around us. They had to eat candy after 8 pm and they didn't have bedtime. Being older looked like so much fun from that age and that perspective.

Well, now that we are all older, we often wish to be that small again. To take naps in the middle of the day as a class, have a designated snack time.  Life seemed so much simpler back then to wish to go back to the kitchen table in the 1st grade trying  to figure out how to add to now staying up super late studying because you don't feel prepared for the test.  Life changes so fast in front of our eyes, most of the time a little too fast.

As the class of 2025 reaches almost close to the middle of their senior year there are a few things they should be reminded of. You do not need to have everything figured out, life changes so much and so often your plans will change with that. It's going to be okay.

Change has always been a part of our life, big or small. The world isn't going to end. You can't control the wind but you can adjust your sail.  Life isn't about being in control of every little aspect, it's the complete opposite. There are so many things in life you cannot control. One thing you can control is the way you react and choose to handle it from that point on.

It's your last year of high school. Go and have fun. Be involved in everything because it's fun. Your high school experience is what you make it. Dress up, attend all the games, let loose, and take it all in.  Things are going to get hard and overwhelming but just remember your grades don't determine who you are and what you can be. Don't be afraid to fail at anything in life at school or in your sport. You cannot get better if you don't try.

Senior year is scary, overwhelming and the best feeling at the same time. Remember to stop and take it all in before it's gone. Don't give up. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. It will all work out.
